A life project born on the Douro River Marma Slow is a life project created by Maria & Manel, a couple united by their love for each other, for Portugal and for the Douro River. What began as a romantic boat ride soon became a shared vision: to create bespoke private boat tours in the Douro Valley that blend slow tourism, authenticity and meaningful travel. Everything started with a simple day on the river. What was meant to be a casual boat trip turned into an unforgettable journey along the Douro — a moment of freedom, beauty and connection with the landscape. It was aboard a classic wooden boat that the idea of Marma Slow took shape: sharing this feeling of calm, wonder and intimacy with others through private river cruises in the Douro
